Locked on Spaceship of Doom
“Yes, yes. Please don’t hurt my sons.” My breathing apparatus made it hard to take deep breaths through my nose.
Zerus turned and walked away with his entourage. Fury surged inside me; I clenched my fists and vowed to protect the hologram, whatever the cost, even if it meant sacrificing my life for my sons.
The air in my pod grew stuffy as his medical staff approached, their movements precise, and my face attentive to the sizeable hypodermic needle in their hands. They lifted the pod screen.
“Just relax, Mrs. Northrop. We will examine your internals and take blood during your sleep. We need your blood for our experiments.” They attached a gold bracelet with an odd-shaped sapphire blue ball to my right arm. I recognized the artifact that Sophia had found. They clamped another device onto my wristband, and the needle pierced my right arm. I slipped into a restless sleep.
