Excerpt from Perfidy

Cyrus Rashid Melekh, a man of success and power, listened to his inner voice groan: “Beware of heartache if you expose your true feelings.”

His inner struggle extended beyond mere thoughts. A fierce battle raged inside him, a storm of emotions that left him unsure of the darkness creeping into his very being. Night after night, an evil spirit plagued his dreams, leaving him with dread upon waking.

The utterance disturbed his inner being. Dark, menacing clouds engulfed his body. He strained to see through the fog when a woman’s shadow, a mere whisper of a figure, lingered in the distance—his nap interrupted by the swaying motion of the ship. But he wondered what the vision meant. The woman was more than stunning; she exuded a mysterious allure that drew him toward her hidden secrets. Her breathtaking grace enraptured him with romantic thoughts. His breath came in ragged bursts as he panted, causing him to waver and sway in his seat. He banished the dream from his thoughts.
